The incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, Javier Campos of Bridgeport was visiting the mall when a female shopper reported that she felt him walk up "extremely close" behind her, according to Trumbull Police.
Moments later, Campos allegedly grabbed the woman’s buttocks intentionally and continued walking, police said. The woman was able to take a quick snapshot of Campos before contacting mall security.
Trumbull Police then used the woman’s description and photograph of Campos to track him down as he was walking through a different section of the mall.
Campos was arrested and faces multiple charges, including:
- Fourth-degree sexual assault
- Breach of peace
- Interfering with an officer (Campos allegedly refused to cooperate while in police custody)
The subject was held on $25,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, Nov. 30.
